Since 2016, our 100% Albertan owned team has succeeded in understanding the needs of our customers and delivering on those needs.

The facility at Alberta Industrial Heat Treating has nearly 10,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space with the mission to provide world-class Heat Treating services to support Canadian manufacturing.

From humble beginnings, the business has expanded rapidly to include seven furnaces and boasts an expanded range of services including gas nitriding and integral quench (IQ) carburizing in addition to traditional heat treatment solutions and induction hardening.

In a few short years, the company has expanded to seven employees with combined heat treatment experience of over 40 years and is supported by a team of 4 metallurgical engineers, three with Ph.D. degrees.

SAFETY

At Alberta Industrial Heat Treating Inc., the safety of our employees is our top priority. We pride ourselves in our safety focus and are dedicated to maintaining a strong safe work culture. To protect our staff and the public, AIHT has received our Certificate of Recognition from the Alberta Government for our health and safety program and practices. Our facility is outfitted with specialized gas alarms in the event of an expected release, and AIHT maintains regular training with chemical and gas suppliers to ensure everyone is comfortable and up to date with the latest industry safe work procedures.

The company prides itself on its robust safety program including a safety committee, which reviews incidents, recommends corrective actions, and follows through on making meaningful changes to protect everyone.

Alberta Industrial is also deeply invested in protecting our customers’ property. To this end, AIHT has invested in emergency systems to protect parts in the event of unexpected process interruptions. All furnaces at our facility are equipped with automatic shutdown protocols that trigger a purge of the furnace chamber rapidly with medical-grade nitrogen if required. The inert gas atmosphere protects our customers’ components while the furnace chamber cools. When the issue is resolved, the furnace treatment can be continued without detrimental effects to the products. This safety feature demonstrates AIHT commitment to maintaining safety and the trust of our customers.

STATE OF THE ART FACILITY

Heat treatment shops of the past have a reputation for being dingy, dirty, arcane facilities – NOT AT ALBERTA INDUSTRIAL! Our facility is brightly lit, clean, well ventilated, and houses state of the art computer-controlled furnaces leading the industry in the modernization of heat treatment services. Repeatability and quality of our treatments is the core of our business. Digital control of key process variables including:
• Furnace temperature
• Treatment time
• Chamber pressure
• Atmosphere composition
• Quench media temperature
• Process transition times
Ensures we obtain consistency between treatments. Manual strip charts to record heat treatments are now a thing of the past. Sensors within our furnaces monitor and record furnace conditions minute-to-minute, so you can have confidence in always knowing the treatment history of your parts. Upon request, a detailed heat treatment report can be provided free of charge to our customers as proof of our commitment to quality and excellence.

Equipment calibration is an integral part of AIHT’s quality guarantee. We maintain our furnaces to AMS 2750 Rev. E: the aerospace standard for heat treatment and calibration. Our furnaces are regularly calibrated for temperature control and uniformity and maintained to the Class 2 standard of ±15 ͦF.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Alberta Industrial is invested in providing timely, professional technical support to our customers. This is why AIHT is supported by a team of four engineers – 3 with Ph.D.’s in Metallurgy and 1 with a Masters in Engineering in Metallurgy. Meet our engineering team! Our experts have 50 years of combined experience in the field of engineering including an intimate understanding of materials, heat treatments, and surface engineering technologies. Such a level of technical expertise is rarely found even in much larger companies. With this powerhouse of experience and deep understanding, AIHT is confident that we can find a solution to your most challenging heat treatment projects.

Our company is also supported by an offsite metallurgical laboratory run by our engineering team plus two lab technicians who routinely test heat treatment samples for quality control and to develop custom heat treatment solutions. The facility is outfitted with all the equipment necessary to prepare metallurgical samples for microscopic evaluation and perform industry-standard mechanical testing (macro and microhardness, tensile, and charpy testing).
